Announcements for the Week of August 29th

Today, we welcome JoAnn and Katie Massey into the First Presbyterian Church family. JoAnn, a teacher at Callaway Middle School, is joining by transfer of her membership from South Highland Presbyterian. Katie, a student at University of Georgia, is joining by profession of faith.
Best wishes to Bob and Deane Jones who have moved to Roswell to be closer to their family. Their new address is 1000 Applewood Drive Apt. 262 Roswell, GA 30076. Their telephone number is 770-650-6283.

Children’s Church leaders today are the Pattons and the Doerrs. Next week, the leaders will be the Davidsons and the Zwillings.
Deacons on call today are Bob Goehring at 8:30 and Bill Cantor at 11:00.
The Chancel Choir will not meet for rehearsal this Wednesday, September 1st, due to LaGrange College Opening Convocation. Wednesday rehearsals will resume on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30 p.m. in the Choir Room. All choir members are asked to be in the choir room on Sunday mornings by 10:30 a.m. to prepare for worship.
A church-wide food drive will be held during the month of September for the LaGrange Personal Aid Food Closet. There will be collection boxes for non-perishable food items located at the church office and by the elevator on the first floor.
Weekly Events
The Men’s Bible Study meets on Wednesdays at 6:45 a.m. in the small dining room. A complimentary breakfast is served. Jim Short will provide breakfast this week. All men are invited.
The First Presbyterian exercise class meets on Mondays at 2:00 p.m.; Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.; and Fridays at 9:30 a.m. The leaders of this class are Janis Kish and Jane Foster. While designed for participants age 55 and older, the class welcomes persons of any age.
Christian Education
The High School PYC will leave at 12:00 noon today to go tubing on the Chattahoochee River.
The Middle School and High School PYC and parents will meet for their fall kick-off dinner on Sunday, September 12th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
The Read Through the Bible Group meets on Wednesday nights at 6:15 p.m. in the Session Room. They will not meet for dinner this week.
The Wednesday Night Program will kick off on Wednesday, September 8th, with supper at 5:15 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The worship services will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary and will feature presentations from several of our summer mission activities: September 15 - Middle School Mission Trip to Chattanooga; September 22 - High School Montreat / Triennium; September 29 - Camp Calvin; October 6 - Belize Mission Trip; October 13 - Camp Viola
Witness & Service
The Thursday Lunch Program is in need of dessert donations. Please bring individual desserts such as cookies, brownies, Little Debbies, etc. to the kitchen. They are used for the delivered meals and for the walk-in lunches on Thursdays.

· It is back to school time! School supply donations are being collected for our adopted school, Berta Weathersbee through September 12th. A donation box is located in the church office. You can visit the Berta website at bwes.troup.k12.ga.us for a complete list of supplies or select from the following: #2 pencils, zippered pencil pouch, cap erasers, pink pearl erasers, glue , glue sticks, 24 count crayons, colored pencils, fine line washable markers, yellow highlighters, scissors, 1 inch 3-ring binders, wide ruled notebook paper, two pocket folders with and without brads, box of Kleenex, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes, Ziploc bags (quart or gallon).
